Dysphagia care training & texture modified foods are topics that arise daily in health & social care facilities, even more now with the introduction of the IDDSI framework. Whether it’s a Residential Aged Care Facility asking for training for all their staff members, or an individual looking to improve their dysphagia care skills, our course will give you the knowledge and experience to bring safe nutritious and appetising meals for those who need it.

Depending on if your are ordering as an individual or as an organisation, the course includes :

  • Online course (for individuals and organisations): 3h hours of learning covering dysphagia, IDDSI and Nutrition theory and assessment.
  • Group-based practical workshop (for organisations only): Preparation, production and Flow Testing of texture modified foods and drinks as per the 8 levels of the IDDSI Framework

Duration

3 hours for online theory

+ 6 hours for practical workshop (organisations only)

Price

Individuals: $75 for online theory only
Organisations: $3 000 for online theory + group workshop of a maximum of 20 participants

LEARNER REQUIREMENTS

To access the online course, the learner will need an email address and access to any IT device that has a web browser.

DURATION OF THE WORKHSOP

1-day (6-hours): 9am – 4pm, including 1 hour for breaks and lunch, or as otherwise requested by facility.

Recipes for production of texture modified foods as per IDDSI framework.

SESSION PLAN

Content:

  • Review of Online theory content
  • Preparation and production of a range of Food and Drinks as per the 8 levels of the IDDSI Framework.
  • Food and Drink flow test measurement

Inclusions :

  • Moulds, thickening agents and recipes

Non-inclusions:

  • Raw food and beverage items
  • Blast-chiller
LEARNER REQUIREMENTS
  • Food production PPE as per facility requirements.
  • Should have completed online theory course prior to workshop.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION COST
  • No charge if Workshop is delivered within 100km of the Brisbane or Sydney CBD
  • Where a Workshop is delivered in excess of 100km from the Brisbane or Sydney CBD then all travel and accommodation costs for the facilitators will be passed onto your organisation.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

The learner will get a ‘Certificate of Completion’ from the Academy – this is a non-accredited certificate which will be emailed as a PDF to successful candidates. The certificate will include first and last name the candidate, with the date of course completion.
